FEATURES
APPLICATIONS
DESCRIPTION
The Video Inlet is an external USB box that enables connection
of any composite video source from a standard camera, VCR,
TV set or camcorder and transfer into the PC in compressed
format (optional). This high quality video can be used in the PC
for storage onto the hard disk, video editing, or sending as video
mail. It works also with video conferencing applications and for
video servers on the web. The video is decompressed in
software by the CPU and displayed on the PC monitor. The main
advantages of the Video Inlet are its high-quality and simple
installation. It supports hot attach / detach to the USB port and
there is no need to open the PC box or to reboot the system.

Functional Description
The main components of the Video Inlet are depicted in the
detailed block diagram below. Three modes of operation are
supported: MJPEG real-time capture, uncompressed YUV
capture and still image full resolution capture. The system is
capable of capturing up to CIF resolution real-time video with
simultaneous display on the PC monitor. This high quality video
is enabled by using the Zoran ZR36060 Integrated JPEG codec.
The Video Inlet, bundled with simple to use video capture and
editing applications, will create the market for low-cost video
capture and editing on the PC.
