Notes
(1)
All parameters measured at T=25C ambient, Vin=5.0VDC, and
5.0A load unless otherwise noted. A capacitor is required to be
connected to the input pins for proper operation. See input
capacitor requirements. Refer to CALEX Application Notes for
definition of terms, measurement circuits, and other information.
(2)
External fusing should be used for system protection due to a
catastrophic failure. See CALEX Application Note 9 in the Calex
DC-DC Catalog to determine the correct fuse.
(3)
Output noise is measured with a 10F tantalum capacitor and a
1F ceramic capacitor connected across the output pins. The
fundamental component of noise is at the switching frequency
and also is commonly referred to as ripple. Using smaller value
capacitors will make the output noise slightly higher. An external
output capacitor is not required for operation.
(4)
Load Transient Overshoot is the output voltage peak amplitude
referenced to the final value due to a step load change from 50%
to 100% of Maximum Rated Load. "Load Transient Overshoot"
and "Dynamic Response" are the same specification. Load
Transient Recovery Time is the time for the output to return to
within the specified voltage error band centered about the final
value. "Load Transient Recovery Time" and "Transient Response"
are the same specification. Transient response may degrade for
low load currents.
(5)
Total Accuracy is defined as the total change in Output Voltage
due to Initial Set point, Load Regulation, Line Regulation, and
Temperature Coefficient.
(6)
Remote On / Off circuit designed for use with an open collector
PNP transistor, or equivalent, connected between +Vin and the
On / Off pin.
(7)
When operating this converter in elevated ambient air conditions,
the output must be derated in accordance with the Output
Derating Curve, see Figure 2.
(8)
The set-up for measuring ambient temperature for this product
is defined in Figure 1. The unit is mounted vertically during
temperature measurement.
(9)
Due to the height of components on the bottom of this
converter, there should be no components or traces under
this converter.
(10) Water Washability - Calex DC/DC converters are designed to
withstand most solder/wash processes. Careful attention should
be used when assessing the applicability in your specific
manufacturing process. Converters are not hermetically sealed.

Application Notes
INPUT CAPACITANCE:
An external capacitance must be connected across the input
pins for proper operation. The external capacitors should be
located as close to the converter as possible (a maximum of
1" from the converter). The external capacitance is required
for stability of the converter and minimizing input voltage
ripple. Using two 150 F capacitors and two 47 F capacitors
will further reduce input voltage ripple.
The required external capacitance should consist of a 150
F polymer capacitor in parallel with a 47 F ceramic capacitor
placed as close to the converter as possible. Recommended
part numbers are listed below.

OUTPUT VOLTAGE ADJUSTMENT:
The output voltage of the 5SR75.5SN can be adjusted to any
voltage in a range from 0.75 Vdc to 3.63 Vdc. Voltage
adjustment is accomplished by use of an external trim resistor
or an external voltage applied to the Trim pin. If no external
resistor, or external voltage is applied to the Trim pin, the
output voltage of the 5SR75.5SN is 0.75 Vdc.
Table 1 lists the Trim Resistor values required for some
industry standard output voltages. The Trim Resistor is
connected from the Trim pin to the Common pin. Table 1 also
lists the values of external voltage required to obtain the same
output voltages. The external voltage is applied between the
Trim pin and Common pin.
